Eligibility Application Funding Review Process For Recipients
🎯 Eligibility
Who is eligible to apply for an Organisation United grant? +
We welcome applications from registered non-profit organisations, community groups, social enterprises, educational institutions, government agencies, and qualified individuals. Applicants must demonstrate a clear project purpose, a defined beneficiary group, and the capacity to implement and report on funded activities.
Do you fund individuals as well as organisations? +
Yes. We have a dedicated individual track for independent practitioners, researchers, and community leaders whose work aligns with our funded areas. Individual applicants must demonstrate impact potential equivalent to that of an organised group or institution.
Are there geographic restrictions on who can apply? +
We accept applications from individuals and organisations based globally. Certain grant programmes may carry geographic priorities in a given funding cycle. These priorities are communicated clearly in programme announcements and on our website.
Can a newly established organisation apply? +
Yes, we welcome applications from newer organisations. However, you must be legally constituted at the time of application. If your organisation is less than one year old, we recommend providing supplementary evidence of your team's track record and capacity to deliver the proposed project.
Can I apply if I have previously received a grant from Organisation United? +
Previous recipients are welcome to apply again, provided they have fulfilled all reporting obligations from prior grants. Applications from past recipients are reviewed on the same criteria as new applicants. There is no automatic preference for or against previous recipients.
📋 Application
When is the application deadline? +
Our grant programmes operate on a rolling review basis, meaning applications are accepted and reviewed throughout the year. There are no fixed deadlines unless a specific programme specifies one. We recommend applying as early as possible, as certain programmes may close when funding is fully committed.
How do I submit my application? +
All applications are submitted through our online application form. Completed forms are sent directly to our grants team via email. Paper applications or applications submitted by post are not accepted.
Can I apply for more than one programme at the same time? +
Applicants may only have one active application under review at any given time. If you have a project that spans multiple funding areas, identify the primary area it aligns with and submit under that programme. You may discuss multi-programme projects with our team by contacting us before applying.
What documents will I need to prepare? +
The online form captures most of the information required. Shortlisted applicants may be asked to provide additional supporting documents, including: proof of legal registration, a full project budget, recent audited accounts (for organisations), and CVs or profiles of key personnel. We will notify you clearly if additional documents are needed.
Can I edit or update my application after submitting it? +
Once submitted, applications cannot be edited through the portal. If you need to make a correction or provide updated information, please contact us directly at grants@organisationunited.org with your project title and the nature of the update. Our team will advise you on the appropriate course of action.
💰 Funding
What is the minimum and maximum grant amount? +
Our grants typically range from $500 to $50,000 USD per project. The amount awarded is based on project scope, demonstrated need, and available programme funding. We encourage applicants to request a realistic, well-justified amount rather than inflating or minimising the budget.
Are there expenses that grants cannot cover? +
Grants may not be used for: personal enrichment unrelated to the project, retrospective expenditure (costs already incurred), political activities, religious proselytising, or the purchase of assets that will not remain in service of the funded project. Reasonable indirect or overhead costs may be included if clearly justified.
How and when are funds disbursed? +
Funds are typically disbursed in tranches — an initial payment upon signing the grant agreement, and subsequent payments tied to milestone reports. The specific disbursement schedule is agreed upon between Organisation United and the recipient at the start of the grant period.
Does Organisation United fund ongoing operational costs? +
We primarily fund project-based work with defined outcomes and timelines. Requests for core operational or institutional support are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must be clearly tied to impact-generating activities. We do not fund ongoing operational costs indefinitely.
🔍 Review Process
How are applications assessed? +
All applications are assessed against a consistent set of criteria: alignment with our programmes, clarity and feasibility of the project plan, evidence of need and community benefit, organisational or individual capacity, and value for money. Our review panel includes subject matter experts with relevant sector experience.
How long does the review process take? +
Applicants will receive an acknowledgement within 3 business days. Initial review is completed within 14 business days. Shortlisted applicants proceed to panel assessment, which may take up to an additional 30 business days. All applicants receive written notification of the final outcome.
Will I be contacted for an interview? +
Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a brief video or telephone interview with a member of our grants panel. The purpose is to clarify aspects of your application, not to resubmit your case. Interviews are scheduled by mutual agreement and are not mandatory for all applicants.
Will I receive feedback if my application is unsuccessful? +
We provide written feedback to all shortlisted applicants who were not selected. Due to the volume of applications, we are unable to provide detailed feedback to all applicants at the initial review stage. We do, however, encourage all unsuccessful applicants to reapply in future cycles.
✅ For Recipients
What are the reporting requirements for grant recipients? +
Recipients are required to submit progress reports at agreed milestones throughout the grant period, as well as a final report within 60 days of project completion. Reports should document activities undertaken, outcomes achieved, expenditure against budget, and any significant deviations from the original plan.
What happens if my project needs to change after a grant is awarded? +
We understand that projects evolve. If you need to make significant changes to your project scope, budget, or timeline, please notify us as soon as possible. Material changes require written approval from Organisation United before implementation. Minor operational adjustments can be noted in your progress reports.
Can unused grant funds be carried over to a future period? +
Carry-over of unspent funds requires prior written approval from Organisation United. Requests must be submitted before the end of the grant period, with a clear explanation and revised activity plan. Unspent funds that are not approved for carry-over must be returned to Organisation United.
